Dr. Adnan Uzunovic is a Research scientist-Mycologist at FPInnovations-Forintek Division, a Canadian non-profit wood products research institute. His area of interest and expertise is with microorganisms attacking wood materials including blue stain, mould and decay fungi. Dr. Uzunovic has been a dedicated member of the International Forestry Quarantine Research Group (IFQRG). Since IFQRG’s establishment, Dr. Uzunovic has worked in collaboration with several others to create protocols worldwide (e.g. to test heat tolerance of fungi, growth of pine wood nematodes in large size material, etc.) to standardize data capture and analysis. In doing so, he hopes the data will promote the use of new phytosanitary treatments.
Role in the project
Dr. Uzunovic works within the proposed project to ensure alignment of research objectives to organizations such as Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, of which he is a member of a phytosanitary standard committee. His role in the project will be critical in developing a forest pathogen collection and sequence database.
